XMP "star" Rating Not Showing on digikam 8.3.0 Thumbnail View

In Digikam, the “Star” ratings are not appearing in the thumbnail view.

I believe that Digikam is correctly reading the xmp, as the rating shows in the “Metadata” tab:

But this rating is not shown in the thumbnail view

This is an example xmp file, written by FastRawViewer:

Here is how the thumbnail gird view looks:

I had the same issue. Turns out, I had for whatever reason turned on “Read metadata from Baloo” in Settings/Metadata Tab Baloo.

Make sure it is turned of. That fixed the issue for me.
