Yubikey + Lock Screen

Hi,

I setup Yubikey to work with Fedora 42 and KDE 6 and it works. The only small problem I am noticing is that the first attempt to unlock always fails. When the session locks, my yubikey starts blinking. If I stay away for some minutes then come back, the Yubikey stopped blinking and when I press some key or move my mouse, it stays the same. So I need to put anything so the login fails and then it resets the Yubikey which then asks me to press it (it starts blinking).
This should be easy to fix, the Yubikey should be reset and ask for input whenever there is a transition from the lock screen to the prompt.

Is this happening with anyone as well? Is it some configuration issue or is it a bug? I tried to find anything related to this on KDE bug site but there wasn´t anything.

Hi - I don’t have a Yubikey or fingerprint scanner, but for what it’s worth, the issue you described sounds like the Yubikey equivalent of this report in the KDE Bugtracking System: 481086 – Fingerprint unlock of screen locker only works after initial failure

I think there are some shared code paths for non-password authentication, so perhaps there’s a common cause underneath both issues?

Hi, you are correct, it seems the same issue. I will add additional information to the bug record, hopefully will help the developers identify where this is happening.
