Hello !
I am quite new to KDE Plasma so there might be something I don’t understand, which is why I make this post as a discussion instead of filing a bug. I did search a fair bit in the settings and discussions but did not find anything that fit my issue :
Here are some examples that were close but not really enough :
- Task manager not unhiding with active window over task manager area
- [Solved] F40 KDE Panel auto-hide not hiding - Fedora Discussion
Using the Icon Only Task Manager, and I am trying to keep the taskbar hidden unless I hover with my mouse, thus the visibility “auto-hide” setting for the panel. However, it only hides in borderless fullscreen applications (typically fullscreen firefox would always have the taskbar on the bottom).
I searched some more into settings and found a parameter (Icon-Only Task Manager Settings) :
Behavior > When panel is hidden > Untick “Unhide when a window wants attention”
Which effectively resulted in the taskbar only showing when hovering with the mouse.
Doing so resulted in a message saying :
*” If you’re using this setting to work around an application that demands attention too often, first look for a setting in the app to disable that behavior. If you don’t find one, consider reporting this as a bug to the app’s developer. ”
*
Is there a better way to do this ? My current taskbar settings are the following :
- Alignment : Center
- Width : Fill Width
- Visibility : Auto-hide
- Opacity : Opaque
- Floating : Panel and Applets
My system version :
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.20.0
Qt Version: 6.10.1
Kernel Version: 6.17.9-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
