Task manager not unhiding with active window over task manager area

I’ll be honest here, I’m a first-day Linux user (Literally just got it installed for the first time this afternoon, around 7 hours ago now), so I’m not sure what tags, if any, to add here.

Anyways, I installed Garuda Dragonised (Dr460nised I think is the actual name but same thing lol), and honestly, despite the learning curve, I’m loving it xD It actually feels, aesthetically, like I’m back on Windows 7 again xD Anyways, the taskbar thing down the bottom (icon only task manager?) doesn’t like to unhide when I have a maximised window over it. For example right now I have Firedragon up cos I’m working on my novel, and I wanted to check something in the settings, but while the area darkens, the task manager doesn’t pop up… Yet it does come up immediately once I bring down the size of the window.

Is there a setting to make it ignore windows if I hover over the area, and just come up even if that means covering part of the window?

Also if I’m missing any tags, I’d appreciate being informed of which ones as well

Hello and welcome! I haven’t used Garuda personally, but can at least offer some general guidance about the KDE Plasma desktop environment (which Garuda uses, with a lot of customization applied, as its default).

The container with widgets in it at the bottom of your screen is called a “panel” in Plasma, and you can customize a good amount of its behavior by right-clicking pretty much anywhere on it and choosing “Show Panel Configuration”. The screen will shift into an Edit Mode for panels and desktop widgets, and you’ll see this pop-up:

What setting is currently active on your device under “Visibility”? That’s the one that should control when the panel appears, so I’d suggest starting with identifying which option you have (and which one you want!) there, and then we can help guide you on figuring out any nuances/quirks/bugs from there.

And as far as tags go, the most helpful ones are those that help sort out which major system components or applications are relevant to the topic - in this case it’s the Plasma desktop environment’s panels, so I added the Plasma tag here
