I thought I read that somewhere that one can use a different accent color per screen (for instance by different wallpapers) on multiscreen setups on Plasma 6. I may err.
Is it possible? Could not find that setting nor does it apply by default.
Or was it a widget…?
Plasma 6 offers an “Accent color from wallpaper” setting in System Settings → Colors, but there is only one - system wide - accent color that samples only the wallpaper on the “main screen” (which I’m guessing is what is set in Display Configuration as the main screen).
I never heard of a per-screen accent color, at least in Plasma (maybe another desktop environment supports such a thing) and that part of the system isn’t pluggable so I don’t think it is possible to have a third-party extension to modify that behavior.
Thank you to whoever suggested to put the reminder at bugs.kde.org that we should probably post here first when not sure if it really is a bug or even a valid feature request.
This answered my question, because I have Picture of the Day on my secondary screen and tried “Accent color from wallpaper” today.
I was going to submit a minor bug for the fact that accent colour isn’t set from the wallpaper when different screens have different wallpapers, but after reading this I’ll just classify it as “works as designed - and the technical underpinnings will perhaps not support it anyway”.
Yeah what accent color does a window get if it’s in between the screens, or also - does it change when you move to the other? At least it’d look nice look nice with an animation for the change!
