Folder View widget does not automatically show new files

This used to work as expected:

  1. Add Folder View widget to panel or desktop. Pointing to ~/Downloads, for example.
  2. Create a file in ~/Downloads using the terminal or any other app.

Results:

  • Expected: Folder View shows newly added file immediately.
  • Actual: Need to click on the widget and press F5 to refresh view. Only then does the new file show up.

At the same time, if I have Dolphin open to the same directory, it show the new file immediately as expected.

I’m using:

  • Operating System: Fedora Linux 42 Kinoite
  • KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.4
  • KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0
  • Qt Version: 6.9.1
  • Kernel Version: 6.15.9-201.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit)
  • Graphics Platform: Wayland

To clarify, I mean if Dolphin is open then Dolphin show the new file just fine while Folder View still doesn’t show and needs to be refreshed.

I’m seeing the same issue on Kinoite - Plasma 6.5.2, but not on Arch systems running the same Plasma version and same kernel. Wayland in both cases.
