Global themes not showing up in system settings

I’m trying to download global themes for KDE Plasma, but they’re not showing up in my settings. I think I know why, but I’m not sure how to fix and would like to check my understanding.

The first thing that happens is I get an error message: Installation of /tmp/xpFEed-Sweet.tar.xz failed: Could not install dependency: ‘kns://lookandfeel.knsrc/api.kde-look.org/2166424’

However the theme still installs, shows up in ~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme/

Different aspects of the theme still show up in my system settings, for example, I still have the window decorations that go with this theme. This has happened for multiple themes I’ve attempted to download. My totally uneducated guess is that the dependency was something necessary to make the full theme, which is why everything else still shows up in the proper place.

I found this post which seems to describe a similar issue: KDE Plasma Theme not downloading. So it seems my solution is to just download the missing piece of the theme on it’s own.

But why is this happening for every theme I download? Furthermore, the person in the linked post was missing a color scheme, what is the thing I’m missing?

Additional context that may or may not be relevant: Running Debian 13, brand new to Linux in general (as in started using yesterday) I don’t want to just fix this, I want to understand why it’s happening. Feel free to correct my vocab and nit pick my explanation so I can learn!
