I’m looking for something that works well with Wayland in KDE, and has support for adding buttons like CTRL, ALT etc… maliit is fine but it just doesn’t have those buttons, I have been looking for so long, KDE is the perfect DE but it’s just the k(keyboard) that’s missing.
On Arch I use corekeyboard with the parameter -platform xcb. This will ask you opening a portal
/edit: it is available as a flatpak as well as I see, for those that use flatpak. (Obviously you need to set it using X11 under Wayland in some flatpak settings somewhere).
Is there a non-X11 alternative?
There is ongoing work on a well integrated Plasma Virtual Keyboard
Superb news, thanks!
I’m running Fedora Kinoite on a tablet and would love to replace Maliit with this because Maliit has no modifier keys.
Is it only available as a nightly Flatpak for now?
hey i just wanna say thanks to those who bumped this thread , i’ve never gotten maliit nor the inprogress plasma virtual keyboard to work with a mouse ,.. this thing does exactly what i need it to even if its a bit ugly n takes up more room than prefered ![]()
