How to resize dual maximized windows simultaneously?

When I have two windows filling the screen together like

I usually want to be able to allocate size to one whilst resizing the other so that I don’t need to resize one and then the other. Windows’s dwm.exe allows this, but kwin doesn’t appear to (at least by default).

Is this possible? If so, how?

I do it much like I do when I have to use Windows

  • Snap one window to a side

  • Snap another to the other side

  • Resizing by grabbing them in the middle resizes both.

Unless I am missing something?

I see. The issue arises when I manually resize them both and then snap them together, expecting them to be linked. However, it appears that they must be resized together from the moment that they are snapped, be it using the mouse or keyboard.
