My icons on the desktop keep moving and don’t stay where i put them after a while! (I have 3 monitors, and sometime i connect a 4th one which when detected disables all monitors except him)

This has come up here recently - take a look at this post and the links toward the bottom:

Thanks for the info, do you know or can estimate when this merge will be in a new stable version of KDE?

This will be in 6.3. Which is scheduled to release on Tue 2025-02-11 (Schedules/Plasma 6 - KDE Community Wiki)

When you get this depends on your distro.

Thank you for the confirmation!

Hi, I did the update in last weeks, and here is my kinfo:

Operating System: KDE neon 6.3
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.13.0
Qt Version: 6.8.3
Kernel Version: 6.11.0-24-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 20 × 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-13700H
Memory: 31.0 Gio of RAM
Graphics Processor 1: Intel® Graphics
Graphics Processor 2: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU

But I still have this problem, especially, the whole group of icons keep changing of monitor! I have 3 monitors, 1 built-in laptop display (primary), 2 external monitors (always connected) and one 4K TV connected via HDMI switch (only detected when the switch is active) and I also use 2 desktops and 2 activities, and I believe it occurs when I change of environnement. (E.g. when I switch to the TV only environnement, or when i change of activity) Should I do a bug report on https://bugs.kde.org/ or it’s a known “residual bug” and it will be/have been fixed?

Up!

If no answer until 08/15/2025, I’ll report it as a bug on https://bugs.kde.org/

This problem has been going on for a while and there are several bugs reported. One I am following just said it is fixed in plasma 6.4.4. We’ll see. See 490891 – The KDE Plasma desktop does not remember manual positioning of desktop icons when a single connected monitor is powered off or the system is restarted

The bug mentions a single monitor but it happens on multiple monitors, too.
