Kdenlive 25.12.3 released - Kdenlive

The last maintenance release of the 25.12 series is out with the usual batch of stability fixes and workflow improvements. Highlights include small interface refinements such as better dock widget behavior, improved shortcut handling in fullscreen mode, logically grouped marker menu items, and a new option to disable timeline effects in the hamburger menu. The release also brings improvements to multistream clip handling and ripple editing, as well as fixing small memleak in the render widget and a crash in the curve editor. See the changelog below for more details.

I’m a simple guy. I see a Kdenlive release, I’m immediatly happy :slightly_smiling_face:

Better dock widget behavior ? Improved shortcut handling in fullscreen mode ? Improvements to multistream clip handling and ripple editing ? That’s all great news.

Thank you so much for your work

I’m delighted with the new version, and as promised, the SWH-Plugins are now included in the AppImage. That’s brilliant, especially for those who, like me, rely on the AppImage on Debian to get the latest version of Kdenlive.
Many thanks

As someone who is on a Debian-based Linux (MX Linux) & has never used these plugins (but has heard them mentioned a fair bit in the forums), this sounds exciting.

Hallo @barry,

Yes, many of the SWH plugins are indispensable in Kdenlive, above all:
EQ:Triple band parametric with shelves, if three bands are enough
Compressor: SC4 oder SC4 mono - definitely the only good compressor in Kdenlive
Glame Highpass Filter
Fast Lookahead limiter

But don’t let that confuse you – there are loads of SWH plugins out there, and there are quite a few you probably won’t find much use for.

Hello. Could you add a button that allows user to adjust font size in your next release? Because the fonts on the past few releases were too small. Otherwise I like the software very much.

We use the font(s) set in the KDE system font settings - so if your DE is plasma or similar, they should look the same as the fonts in all the other KDE apps you have by default.

If you’re using some other DE, then adjusting these sizes can be … let’s go with A Bit Of An Adventure. And especially on high DPI screens the default scaling of Qt/KDE apps can need some tweaking if you’re in a more GTK or other widget set based environment.

That’s definitely something we could improve, even if it’s just better documenting what needs to be done where for this.

Hello, first I would like to thank the team for their efforts in creating this wonderful software. I would like to know if there is any forecast for this update to be released on Flathub?

We are working on fixing something that currently prevents a successful build on Flathub. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please use the AppImage instead.

Why was the choice to use an AMD GPU when rendering Video removed?

It wasn’t. Don’t you see render presets/profiles with VAAPI in it?

muncul error, saat mau memasukan file audio dan video. tapi kalu saya masukan gambar bisa. mohon ada pembaruan kembali. Saya pakai zorin Os

I’m having the same problem too.

I had no clue at all about these plugins. Would love it if there was some sort of info or description panel for these, because something like “SC4” by itself certainly doesn’t tell me anything! If it’s a normalize plugin, I’m also surprised it doesn’t get found through some sort of keyword system when I filter the plugins for “normalize”.

Anyway, guess I’ve got some new fun stuff to play with.

Well, we are working on it. It needs the description in the XML file that defines the UI for the filter/effect. Unfortunately, there are many LADSPA filters but not all of them are properly documented and described. I just recently found the Steve Harris’ SWH Plugin documentation in the Way Back Machine and will now work on the files.

You see, this is all the work of volunteers who dedicate parts of their free time to working on Kdenlive and the documentation. Rome wasn’t built overnight, and FOSS may take a bit longer still. Any help is appreciated.

When editing videos in Kdenlive, the sound doesn’t come from the external speakers, but from the computer speakers. I’ve tried setting the sound to come from the external speakers, but Kdenlive still gives me an error. Could you please help me find a solution? I’m currently using Zorin OS.

This seems to be a sound setting and routing problem on the OS side. Check if you have chosen the correct audio device: Playback — Kdenlive Manual 25.12 documentation

I haven’t changed the audio settings in Kdenlive and they follow the tutorial on the Kdenlive website. However, the sound still comes from the computer speakers, not the external speakers. Could you please help?

What kind of error? Can you post the error message or a screenshot of it?

As @Eugen_Mohr has already stated this is most likely a setting in your OS that determines which device you want it to use for sound output.
