My first KDE project: I'm stuck

I imported all my clips to Kdenlive,

added first clip, clicked next clip

in “clip bin”, but that clip replaces

first clip. What am I doing wrong?

I’ve tried to watch some tutorials,

but they play for 30 seconds, and

I get a “something went wrong”

message, no matter what online

tutorial I try to watch (I’m no

Please disregard the previous message. I used my Android to search for additional fora, and after viewing 30 seconds of one, I was able to open a KDE project, the timeline looked and worked like a timeline should, and I’m off and running. Will probably pull an all nighter, as I have a lot of footage to work with, and I am bitten by the bug. KDE’s timeline works a bit like the one in Shotcut (I think that is what it’s called). Transitions work in a very similar manner. I am an old guy . . . a really old guy, but everyday I thank my good fortune to have lived long enough to see the amazing applications that have become available to us . . . and so much of it FOSS. I need a lot of time to uncover everything of which this application is capable, but I will get there. If you have read this far, I wish to thank you. The online documentation can also be downloaded in epub format but you need a reader application for that. Not sure whether printing is really an option here …

For tutorials, I suggest you try any of the ones listed in the Getting Started section, chapter Video Tutorials.

Actually, I used my phone to view part of a tutorial, and that got me started. Kadenlive’s timeline and basic transitions are very similar to Shotcut with which I have some experience. Vegas (back in the day) was the “bee’s knees” for me when I would capture my wife’s school musicals using three cameras (center stage, right and left stage), then sync them and have at it. No doubt Kadenlive could do the same, but she and I are both retired now. There are no school musicals in our lives these days, so I am very pleased to have such a capable FOSS application that allows me to more than keep my feet wet. I was up all last night putting together a 25-minute video of our dogs around the house. I have to say that I am very impressed with Kadenlive. It amazes me what is available to us today in the way of video and still photography, all very capable, and all at no cost. It’s a great thing.

Thank you for reaching out, but I think that I am well on my way with Kadenlive.
