No touchpad settings, (no touchpad working)

Hi, I’m new here and soon to be 80, so please bear with me if I don’t understand everything straight away, but I’ll try my best!
I’m using a tuxedo laptop with ryzen7 and embedded graphics. Kernel is 6.5.0 KDE version 6.3.1. OS is tuxedo OS, which is quite similar to Ubuntu.

Since the last update the touchpad entry in the settings menu is empty and the touchpad only works until login, after that it doesn’t work anymore. The problem exists in wayland as well as in X11. With kcmshell6 kcm_touchpad I can make the page visible, everything seems to be ok. Also libinput list-devices shows (if I interpret it correctly) that the touchpad is recognized. It’s not a big problem because I rarely use the touchpad, but somehow it bothers me.
Maybe you can think of something. Best regards from Lake Constance, Austria.

Hey Ulrich,

there are unfortunately a couple bugs with the systemsettings. I believe you are hitting: 488965 – KCMs with any InlineMessages or a KNewStuff dialog break in System Settings but work in KCMShell6: Cannot assign object of type "TP.IconPropertiesGroup" to property of type "IconPropertiesGroup_QMLTYPE_101*" as the former is neither the same as the latter

Although in all the reports I read the touchpad was still working.

Thank you very much!
Yes, that’s how it is for me too, with the difference that the touchpad doesn’t work. By the way, I’ve just noticed that KDE Connect isn’t working either. This is also not particularly serious because I can upload photos in other ways, but it is a bit annoying, especially because I have found KDE Plasma to be so reliable and problem-free so far.

Ran kcmshell6 kcm_touchpad again and saw that the touchpad was switched off. Was my mistake, sorry. The touchpad works perfectly, but the settings can only be called up in the terminal with kcmshell6 kcm_touchpad. No problem at all!
As far as KDE connect is concerned: I’d rather wait, maybe I’m doing something wrong. Old, oh my goodness!
