Resume from Long Suspend Hungs Up Lockscreen

I have been using Plasma for quite a long time and this seems to be a new problem. When my laptop suspends for a long time (say 30 minutes), the lock screen will show then hang up upon resume. Different from Some issues with screen lock/sleep and freezing desktop, switching sessions will only work once (Ctrl+Alt+F2 will bring me to sddm, and then everything freezes, CapsLock key and indicator also stops responding).

I looked up the journalctl and the only relevant message I saw is kwin_wayland_drm: atomic commit failed: Permission denied. (Full log here, the line above was in Chinese so I translated it), which is also different from what I saw in the previous thread.

System:

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2
Kernel Version: 6.13.7-1-cachyos-bmq (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 22 × Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 185H
Memory: 30.9 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor 1: Intel® Arc
Graphics Processor 2: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU
Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
Product Name: ROG Zephyrus G16 GU605MV_GU605MV

The screen is usually connected to the Intel Arc integrated GPU, so I doubt this to be related to Nvidia driver issue (using nvidia-open).

Hi - what you’re describing sounds related to the following report in the KDE Bugtracking System: 495765 – Resume from sleep and unlock screen freezes laptop

Just to check, does the issue you’re experiencing happen on a standard Linux kernel?

That KDE bug appears to be connected to AMD GPUs. I don’t have any AMD GPU on my system, so no. I do happen to not be using standard kernel (it’s a CachyOS BMQ variant). Also, this doesn’t seem to happen anymore – perhaps some update fixes the underlying issue. I will close this for now unless it strikes me again.

Thanks for you reply though!
