Hello, I’m very happy to see KDE supported and the project improving every day. I wholeheartedly thank everyone who works to make this possible. As community members, we can help KDE achieve even greater success through individual contributions, especially financial support. I recently considered making a donation and still want to. Unfortunately, sending donations from my country isn’t possible. This situation truly saddens me. I believe that finding a solution to this issue would be a great development for the community.
We are aware of several problems like this. We try to solve them, but many times it is outside of our power as local monetary laws and banking systems sometime make donating to KDE impossible.
However, if you could tell us which country you cannot donate from, we can look into it to see if we can come up with a solution.
On the other hand, there are many (and often better) ways you can help KDE besides donating. Take a look at
You may find something you would like to help us with.
Hello, thank you for your interest. I realized I can’t donate in Turkey. Actually, I’m in a country with a banking system that’s open to many international transfers and payments. However, I suspect this is related to PayPal; a channel hasn’t been opened for Turkey. I remember this being the case in the past, but I don’t know why it was removed. Years ago, everything was possible with PayPal.
On the other hand, as you mentioned, there are many things that can be done for KDE. While I’m not a programmer, I’m considering things like translation or writing articles. I have good experience as a content creator, especially in article content. However, unfortunately, I haven’t found anyone here or in my network who speaks my language to support me and tell me exactly what to do and how to do it.
As far as I can see, the KDE Turkey community hasn’t been active for a long time. If you know of any active people, please direct me. I can also share an email address. I’m enthusiastic, interested, and open to learning.
Hello, we would love to have a community in Turkey. If you can message me, we can work together and I can share more details. You can find me on Matrix @aniqakhokhar:kde.org.
Might also make sense to post into the last active thread in the Turkish sub forum.
At least one of the participants seems to be a known Turkish KDE contributor (going by the badge on their avatar).
We have a group that you can join: https://matrix.to/#/#kde-tr:kde.org
