I would like to report a bug, but I am not sure how to file it properly. When I tried to submit it, I saw a recommendation saying, “When in doubt, post in Discuss,” which made me unsure where this should go.
Issue Description
The panel (which I use as a taskbar, similar to the Windows taskbar) sometimes behaves unexpectedly.
Occasionally, it leaves an empty space on the right side. At other times, it extends past the screen boundary and appears on the next monitor to the right. When this happens, a rectangular black bar appears, which initially made me think my second monitor was damaged.
The issue occurs intermittently, and I have not yet identified reliable steps to reproduce it.
Setup
Running on Nobara
I have two monitors, this widget is located in the left monitor.
The monitor where the widget is located is in 1080, the second monitor is 1440
if align right and fit content are both selected, my expectation would be that regardless of the size of the content, it would hug the right edge of the screen.
does this occur with a default panel and only those settings changed?
can you reproduce it?
does the same behavior occur when the panel not floating?
have you tried just deleting the panel and building a new one?
further troubleshooting ideas:
selectively remove one widget at a time from the panel as observe if the behavior crops up again and if it does then remove another widget from the panel
perhaps one of the widgets is triggering this behavior (my money is on the clock).
Yes I have. But I have not tried removing widgets. I’ll start with the spacers. But it happens very seldomly that it might be long before I get to reply again.
also be aware that the extra padding you can see in the pic across the clock widget is it’s own separate widget you can remove (at least it was on plasma 5)
