Hi,
I would like to give a suggestion about a feature: Auto-Cut Silent
The suggested feature name is not really self-explanatory. So I’m gonna explain here.
I’m talking about a feature where the application can detect any silent part in the audio or video, and auto slice it. Doing it manually, by looking at the waveform, is too tiring, and taking so much time.
With this feature, the application should be able to scan the whole audio or video, and slice all the silent part(s). The editor will choose which silent parts to remove, and which silent parts to keep. Because some silent parts are intentional in the video, and some are not and need to be removed.
Maybe you can add in this feature where the user can:
-
Set the minimum duration of silent to be sliced, and they can set whether it is “Slice & Remove”, or “Slice Only”. For example, if they set 1 second, then all silent parts that shorter than 1 second will not be sliced. While more, will be sliced.
-
Set the decibels threshold to be considered and will get cut.
-
Set the sliced part to be “Audio & Video” or “Audio Only” or “Video Only”.
-
I know currently Kdenlive have the feature to remove non-speech parts. But that’s for speech. I’m talking about “Sound”. If there’s no speech in the video, but there’s sound; like vehicle sound, animal sound, etc, it will NOT get cut. Because there’s sound in that part of the video.
To get more understanding about this, you can look at an old video editor, Olive Video Editor v0.1, which it got this feature to auto-cut silent part.
That’s all my suggestions. Thanks a lot for your time.
