I’m not much into dark desktops these days. Dunno why. But what the heck…

Wow how do you make Dolphin look like this?

Lightly application style. Klassy window decorator ( no titlebar). Some fiddling with the colorscheme and you’re good to go.

The advantage(s) of this application style is that you can easily switch colorschemes. Unlike kvantum for example.

Hi everyone! After lurking around here for quite a while I finally decided to join in. I really enjoy looking at all the nice creative desktops on display here (though this confusing forum system really could use real pagination …)

So here is my current desktop! I enjoy theming my desktop and switch around a few times a year, using pretty much anything I can find that is not flat and symbolic - I prefer rich, clear and colorful.

This one is using the excellent Suave theme for applications and Plasma, using Kvantum. Icons are KFaenza, Wallpaper is my own. I especially like the cute cat widget, since I have a small white cat at home.

And image two, since I’m a new user I need to put them separately:

I’m sorry, are you on Plasma 6? And if, which lightly git version do you use?

EIT: Found the answer here. Thank you

Yep, it’s Plasma 6 and using Kvantum. It’s great! I changed a few settings in Kvantum for this, but no code changes.

I really like using Oxygen too, as well as QtCurve, but usually it’s based on Kvantum. I’m still waiting for a Qt6 package for QtCurve for my next desktop.

Wow, that’s great. How did you make your windows blurry. Could you please teach me too :slightly_smiling_face:

Can I find out if you have a blog?

Blur is a native feature. The rest is about application styles. This application style is Lightly.
It’s been covered on the forum but I suggest you look up some on, among other things, application styles.
Trying to explain how it works in a couple of lines is a bit…impossible really.
I’m sure if you have questions, someone on the forum will try to help.
Those screenies aren’t just about some ready-to-go blurry transparent windows. You can have that sort of thing using Kvantum application style.
It’s also about, window application, icons, colorschemes, plasma, konsole profiles…etc etc. Even the wallpaper is done in Gimp. So…

I switched to KDE Neon actually yesterday and one of the first things that I did as part of the setup process was put together this theme for my desktop! I just used a few elements that were uploaded to the appearance settings from the KDE community! The icons are Cyberpunk Technotronic icon theme, the cursors that I used are Saturn, the colors are Cyberpunk Neon and the other elements Application Style, Window Decorations and Plasma Style are Breeze! I found the wallpaper on 4k wallpapers! I am actually running this on my Surface Pro 9 using the Surface-Linux Kernel!

Got everything to work properly on that Surface? I mean touch, camera, orientation and evrything. I suppose it’s the Intel version?

@dzon Yes it’s the Intel Core i7 model ! Everything works except camera unfortunately! But I have 3 other devices that I can use for conferences if needed until it gets sorted out!

Ah, cool. The camera, well, there are apps with which you could use your phone app in the meantime if you like. Forgotten their names though.
Have to say, it’s a bit of a hassle, screensharing and such. Works though.
Yeah, in terms of…tablet size portable linux, a Surface is a good option me think.

Oh okay I may look into that and give it a try to see how it works! Thanks! Yes I agree the Surface is a nice form factor and Linux actually has been running well on the device! I figured since I have a larger laptop with Windows that the Surface was a great option for me to use with Linux! :+1:t5:

Love the status indicators along the bottom…

Not sure which ones you mean, but next to the clock thingie, that’s conky ( well…so is the clock).
The blue stuff in the dolphin terminal is some Inxi blabla. The konsole colorscheme and all that…
O yeah, that sound bling is xava.

Not so much a picture of my desktop but more of my daily workhorse rig to show KDE can successfully run quite a few monitors…

For those interested the main 3 screens are directly on the GPU via display port, plus one of the additional screens is on the same GPU via one of the main screens using display port MST passthrough. The final two are on the motherboards HDMI and DVI (via a HDMI converter) off the Intel iGPU.

Its quite an elderly box now so I’m hopping to upgrade soon to a new box with two GPU’s + iGPU, to get a total of 9 displays…
